Update: Brian O'Neill

This is Mindi, Angie’s sister. I am updated the post for Angie as she is unable to access a computer right now. I have briefly talked with Angie, so I apologize if some information is not accurate. Brian was having uncontrollable seizures this morning from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. There was nothing they could do to stop these from happening. Even with the help of hospice and some other interventions, they would not cease. They took Brian to the hospital for this reason and soon after the admission, they got the seizures to stop with the help of Morphine. He is now a patient at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL (I am assuming, as that is where he always goes). He is now heavily sedated with the medications to have his body under control. His vitals are pretty good still, his blood pressure is normal but he is running a temp and his heart rate was 160 at the time of admission. I do believe his heart rate has come down slightly and his respirations have slowed down as well due to the medication. They have tossed around the idea of a PIC line to administer medications but the doctors and hospitals know the family’s wishes at this time for any other measures. They do want him to be comfortable and peaceful though.

The boys are with my mom, heading to Biehle tonight to return to Peoria tomorrow evening. We got to spend the weekend with the boys and had a wonderful birthday celebration for Grant as he turned 6 on Saturday. I think the boys have had a wonderful, enjoyable weekend. They got a little spoiled though. We took them to the city museum in St. Louis on Sunday and today they got to go to a place called incredible pizza where they rode bumper cars and played a lot of games. They have had a blast and it is such a blessing that they were not at home to witness the past couple of hard days that the O’Neill family has had. My mom will be staying all week in Peoria and longer if needed to help out Angie with the boys, so they are in good hands and will be taking care of with no added stress on Angie.

To the entire O’Neill family, we are praying for you. You have people all over this country/world praying and willing to help in any way possible. God will provide, weather it is for Brian to continue here on earth or for Him to provide you with strength during this though time, God will provide. Our God is an awesome God and remember to Keep Believing. We love you all.

  1. Bless you for posting this for Angie. I have been thinking and praying all day for the O'Neill family. It is now in God's hands and He will take Brian home in His time.

I keep believing that Brian will have a peaceful transition and Angie and the boys will have happy memories.

  6. Angie,

I have been praying all day since I received Kayre's email. I am praying for Jesus' presence to be so near to you so that you know He is holding you in His arms. If I can do anything, please do not hesitate to let me know. Our God has given me such a love for you--one that can only be explained by the fact that we are sisters in the same family.

I am specifically praying for you to know peace, sweet Angie. As dark as this time may feel, your darkness is not darkness to Him. I am begging Him to let you know that, to let your soul know that He is your salvation. I am praying for courage and the grace that He has promised for this day and the next and the next. It is yours, Angie. I pray that you will take it freely and know that it is lavished on you. It will never run out.

I am at a loss for words. But God's Word is never at a loss. I am praying Psalm 131 over you both. It was one of the shortest psalms I ever ran across and its length gave me the courage to try to memorize it. When I cannot understand what is happening around me, this psalm comforts me again and again:

My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.

But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

O Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore.

I am praying that you will experience stillness and trust like you may have experienced with a beloved parent. He is doing all things well, sweet Angie. And standing on that promise in faith is where our peace comes from even when the world is so chaotic. I pray that you will let Him hold you. There has been great glory surrounding your struggle these 11 years. I am praying that you will see Jesus high and lifted up above the circumstances that you are going through right now. You are in His watch-care, the safest place that you, Brian, Gavin, and Grant can be.

I love you, dear friend--Shawn from TN

  12. Thank you for letting us know how to pray for Angie and Brian. How precious to see the Lord's care by Him having the boys out of the home during the worst of this. I am praying the verse "And as thy day goes, so shall thy strength be" for Angie and Brian and all to feel God's strength and purpose flowing thru them.

  24. Angie . . .Praying that you will feel the power in this moment of all the many, many prayers being sent up to our Heavenly Father on your behalf. May you be empowered, strengthed and comforted by His presence during this time. Knowing that He has brought you to this place, please be confident that He will also provide ALL that you need as you walk through this valley. Hold tightly to His promises, and He will be with you through each step that lies ahead of you. I pray that you will continue to see the grace moments in these final moments, so that He will continue to be glorified in your lives.

Having gone through the loss of their father with my own young children, my heart is especially heavy and broken for your boys. I will be praying for them specifically during the days to come.

I thank God for your family and many friends who have been and will continue to be a source of help and comfort for you and the boys. You are a special woman. Thank you for sharing your life with those of us who don't know you, but who have been inspired and blessed by you nontheless.

May His peace that passes all understanding be with you and your family during this time. May His blessings be showered upon you, Brian, Gavin, Grant and all of your loved ones.
