before and after week - my Christmas present

Today's before and after theme:
My Christmas Present.

Each year my mom and dad struggle with what to get my siblings and me for Christmas. Two years ago, they gave us the. best. present. ever. They decided to repeat it this year:

I took this BEFORE picture of the present over Thanksgiving

While I do not yet have an ACTUAL AFTER picture yet, tonight we had a glimpse of what it will look like:

I think I will wait to explain to the boys exactly how THIS BEFORE present translates into several packages of frozen beef AFTER. Right now, thanks to Mom asking them if they wanted to see their mom's present, they are just worried how we will keep these things in our backyard. Our neighborhood bylaws include a no-fence policy.

By the way, I actually COOKED that steak, sweet potato and broccoli tonight. The steak was only slightly overdone, but the wine overshadowed that. Grilled steak necessitates red wine as an accompaniment.

KEEP BELIEVING

  1. Angie,
Those kind of presents are perfect. Ours will come after the holiday....gotta love parents/in-laws who farm!
Way to go on cooking supper - for us tonight it was nuggets and french fries with green beans. (Yes, still must have some balance in the junky meals).
Can't wait to see your next before and after.

  2. You cooked! That is a good thing. And necessary if you're going to be the proud owner of a side of beef.

  14. And this is why I too love my parents house. The farm raised beef (and piggies) that get sent our way!

Nothing quite as good as from your parents farm beef!

  15. When I was little I raised three little piglets. One day I fed the before going to school and never saw them again. The foster parents took them to be slaughters while I was gone. Nobody ever told me that they would some day be the food on the table. I am still traumatized by that event. Please be sure to explain what's going to happen long before the charcoals are ready...
